Audience 2003
Audienceis a seven month course aimed at people who want to know more about contemporary art. It is not a specialist course but more of an introductory course. There are visits to exhibitions using hired buses, accompanied by specialists. There are also class based discussions in which guest artists and critics are invited.
14 students took part in 2001. 17 students are enrolled for the 2002 course.

Among the exhibition visits in 2001 were:
Visit to Gerhard Richter 'Atlas' at Kawamura Museum of Art, accompanied by art critic Ichihara Kentaro.
Visit to 'Minimal Maximal' at Chiba Museum of Art.
Visit to alternative art spaces in the metropolitan Tokyo area.
Visit to 'Ego-Fugal. Istanbul Biennale' at Tokyo Opera City Gallery, with curators talk.
Visit to 'Japanese Post-war photography' at Taro Okamoto Museum, accompanied by Iizawa Kotaro, photography critic.
Visit to Yokohama Triennale 2001, accompanied by Fumio Nanjo, one of the Artistic Directors.

Fee for 7 months : JPY72,000 excluding tax (including all bus transportations to exhibitions)
Average age of students is roughly 32

All the courses are held in Japanese.

Facilities:
2 Video projectors.
1 slide projector with carousel.
TV monitor
VHS video decks (PAL/NTSC compatible)
DVD player (PAL/NTSC compatible)
BOSE stereo system. (CD)
White board.
Kitchenette with coffee making facilities.

Reference library:
Students have access to our extensive reference library containing artists monographs, group exhibitions catalogues, international exhibition catalogues and related archives.
